New beginnings – First Steps

Agh!

New beginnings!  So full of excitement and trepidation all rolled into one.  This is a new beginning… Life in word.  How will it work out and will there be any kind of response?  All questions based out of fear and uncertainty  – two strong factors that limit me (and humanity I’m sure) on a daily basis.

I consider myself an optimist, regularly telling people I live in a world of rainbows and sunshine, always looking to make a positive out of an awkward or downcast situation. This view is fairly well ingrained in me at the ripe ‘ole age of 29; however I can see how easily the view can shift when fear and uncertainty creep in around the edges.

Life:
I completed my first half-marathon in Dec 2011, quite the achievement for someone who considered 5km a scary task and 3km an effort of consistency.  Since completing this I have run very little, allowing myself ‘time off’ for good work.  That was 6 months ago and it’s time to get back on that horse… I find it interesting that fear is the first visitor to my mind, wanting to limit life to the path of mediocrity and steering me away from the path of achievement.  Yoga is an excellent balance for this in my world.  Bringing in the light of breath, the lightness of fun in struggles with strength and allowing for the recognition of my own importance.  This is the key to action.  My own importance – I would go above and beyond to help family, a friend, a colleague; why do I discount myself and my value in my own life?

This shows up in other areas…

Work:
I am currently working in health care and have been for 6 years now.  It’s been an interesting and varied career, allowing me to create, develop and lead into new areas of strength.  Despite this, I’m seeking a new challenge.  In healthcare the goal is a happy, healthy, self-sufficient, self-managed client; this goal isn’t always met and the flip side can be quite emotionally taxing.  Time for a change!!

I’m taking stock of my strengths, my desires and future plans – what employment will best support this and allow for further growth?  Restaurant work for the people factor; Exec Assistant for the business experience; travel advisor for the perks?  Taking action, trusting the process and time will tell the outcome.

I hope to develop these thoughts as this blog progresses.  Nut out ideas, suggestions, feelings, thoughts, usually mixed up with a bit of crazy and optimism.

Travel Happy until next time…
