Life had been very full since I last posted an update. I started writing about my adventures w Lisa when she came for an action packed week in Alberta, and how I seem to go on all these fabulous dates w friends from all over the world (rough existence, I know!) – turns out that was about 2 months ago! Things haven’t changed much, I continue to have a wonderful time, sometimes planned, sometimes spontaneous, with old and new friends every day. There has been a large amount of travel in between for me, all centred around the wonderous and mysterious Peru (even more mysterious when you don’t speak any Spanish and have no idea what is going on!). In conjunction with my travels, there have been major life events and the odd game of tennis since being back in Calgary. Hence, the fullness of each day overshadowing my desire to write stuff down. Ha ha ha!
I booked a ticket back to Australia yesterday. I’m super excited that I get to spend the last chunk of time of my #recklessabandontour with my Aussie friends and family. This excitement comes with the realisation that I truly have two firmly grounded homes. Australia and Canada. I will always be in one place and miss the other and that this will never change. Luckily for me I also realised that I have a big enough heart to love those who are ‘afar’ at any given point in time, making the possibility for me to live and love both homes from where ever I am on the planet, an achievable task.
The #recklessabandontour has highlighted numerous key points that I want to address to live the life I want. While I could list them in bullet points quite factually, that would be completely out of character for me. Ha ha ha! Instead I will do a “flashback” series of the adventures and events that lead me to these revelations. I was having quite the internal conflict – “I don’t want to write this pretending it’s happening currently; I also want to keep things in some kind of chronological order. How??” Flashback montage – that’s how! All about perspective!
As I round out my last few weeks in my not-so-native land, I’ll endeavour to do a mix of current and flashback pieces with associated photos of course. Ideally this will allow me to continue to be present and grateful for all the beauty and wonder of my Canadian home, while also mentally preparing myself (and those Aussies playing along at home) for the imminent return to the Sunburnt Country.
Happy Wandering!
